Work

With over thirty years of experience, The Kastrop Group, Inc. has worked on a diverse range of projects, including shopping centers, restaurant and store interiors/exteriors, church and private school construction/renovation, as well as new and remodeled residential homes.

Our ability to see projects through, without sacrificing creativity, is what keeps our repeat business booming. We pride ourselves on working with clients to execute their goals whether they need a tenant improvement or a brand new home. Each project's unique challenges are what excite and motivate us to find the best solution for our clients' needs.

Residential Work

Residential Architecture is the design of private homes.

It can be a truly life-changing experience.  For the individual, couple, or family, the experience is filled with hope and excitement, but also many concerns.  Whether you have a home to remodel or a vacant lot to build on, you want your lifestyle and tastes to be a part of the completed design.  You also want the architect to bring new ideas to the table, ideas that are based on many years of experience, creativity and innovation. You want to be able to stick to your budget as closely as possible and avoid unpleasant surprises.  At The Kastrop Group, we understand your priorities.

The Kastrop Group uses a collaborative approach to each project.  From the very first client meeting, we want to hear your ideas.  We also will talk to potential contractors, engineers, and anyone else who will be involved with the project.  By creating a collaborative project team, we can troubleshoot obstacles and stay on budget.

Since we have good working relationships with permitting agencies, we establish trust in the project team and get "buy in" from the very beginning of the process.  With communication and teamwork, we find ways to overcome obstacles and create successful outcomes.

The Kastrop Group is especially devoted to designing what we call "healthy homes", with an emphasis on safety, non-toxic materials, energy efficiency, and earth-friendly ("green") methods.  We also consider multi-generational building options to allow the home to be used effectively by not only the current residents, but others in the future, such as children, or aging relatives.

Commercial Work

Commercial Architecture is designing for business.

It encompasses a large spectrum of projects of all types and sizes.  From a mom-and-pop grocery store or restaurant to a large office building, the design and construction must be cost-effective and meet the business needs of the client as well as their customers and employees.  It must reflect the culture and style of the business, as well as the surrounding environment.

The Kastrop Group is especially devoted to designing what we call "beneficial buildings", with an emphasis on safety, non-toxic materials, energy efficiency, and earth-friendly ("green") methods.  We also use traditional techniques like feng shui and newer ergonomic trends to make the work environment feel comfortable and productive to those using the building on a daily basis.

Here are examples of the variety of commercial projects The Kastrop Group has successfully completed:

  • Remodels: from older multi-use buildings in downtown and commercial corridors to updating an aging strip mall

  • Retail Stores: from major chain outlets across the country to small unique boutiques

  • Restaurants:  from small outdoor cafes to coffee shops to fine dining establishments

  • Personal Service Shops: such as nail and hair salons

  • Tenant Improvements: from small offices in older buildings to new offices in Type A office complexes

  • Health Clubs and Dance Studios

  • Industrial Spaces: from a woodworking shop to an asphalt plant

  • Medical Offices: from an optometrist office in a strip mall, to outpatient clinics, to a  high-tech research facility

  • Historic Restorations: from a 1920's art nouveau retail/office complex to a 1950's style diner

Every client, every project, has different requirements.  The Kastrop Group uses a collaborative approach to

create strong teamwork between the client, architect, engineers, project manager, and general contractor.  Having good working relationships with permitting agencies, we establish trust in the project team and get "buy in" from the very beginning of the process.  With communication and teamwork, we find ways to overcome obstacles and create successful outcomes.

Public Work

Public architecture is the design of buildings that are open to the public.

This includes, government buildings, places of worship, schools, museums, clubs and non-profit organizations and parks and recreation facilities.

The Kastrop Group has been privileged to work on several public projects, including:

  • several churches

  • a synagogue

  • a yacht club

  • a public library

  • a YMCA

  • private schools

  • harbor office

  • golf & country club facilities

In most cases, public projects involve a community input process to achieve the best possible communication with stakeholders.  Sometimes the projects involve submitting plans to fundraising committees, advisory boards or elected officials.  This can be critical to the success of the project, and we enjoy doing these types of presentations and meetings during the architectural design process.

The Kastrop Group uses a collaborative approach to create strong teamwork between the client, architect, engineers, project manager, and general contractor.  Having good working relationships with permitting agencies, we establish trust in the project team and get "buy in" from the very beginning of the process.  With communication and teamwork, we find ways to overcome obstacles and create successful outcomes.
